The former president lists all of his elective offices, written in answer to a question posed by a schoolgirl.
Fillmore writes: "I have your letter asking my autograph and requesting to know what offices I have held, and I cheerfully comply with your request.—Member of assemby for 1829-1830 & 1831. Member of Congress for 1833, 1835, 1837, & 9, 40, 41, 42 & 43. State comptroller from 1848 to February 1849. Vice President from March 4, 1849 to July 9, 1850. President from July 10, 1850 to March 3, 1853. Respectfully yours ..."
