Description

  • Robert Doisneau
  • 'les pains de picasso'
signed by the photographer in ink in the margin, initialed, titled, and dated by him in ink on the reverse, matted, 1952, printed later (Three Seconds from Eternity, p. 47; Retrospective, p. 30 and pl. 20)

Provenance

Acquired by the present owner from Hamiltons Gallery, London, late 1980s

Condition

This print, on semi-matte paper, is in generally excellent condition. In raking light, tiny deposits of original retouching are visible, most notably in the upper center of the print. Visible upon very close inspection is a ½-inch linear indentation in the upper right quadrant that does not break the emulsion. The upper edge is lightly bumped. There is slight age-darkening along the periphery of the print on the reverse.
