Description

- 'union square'
annotated by a Federal Art Project assistant in pencil and with the photographer's 'Federal Art Project' stamp on the reverse, matted, framed, 1936 (Yochelson, Middle East Side, pl. 1; New York in the Thirties, pl. 50)
Condition
This warm-toned print, on double-weight paper with a slight surface sheen, is in generally very good condition. There is a crease in the upper left corner, measuring approximately 2 inches, and a crease along the middle of the right edge, neither of which break the emulsion. The corners are lightly bumped, and at the upper right corner the emulsion has separated slightly from the paper. There are pencil point-sized chips to the emulsion along the margin edges of the print. These minor issues do not detract from the overall print quality.
Adhered to the reverse of the print is dry-mounting tissue, which is bubbling and cracked with age. There is soiling along the periphery and down the center of the reverse.
