Description

  • 'new york' (manhattan bridge)
titled and dated by the photographer in pencil on the reverse, matted, 1946

Condition

This contact print, slightly-warm toned and on double-weight paper with a surface sheen, is in generally very good condition. There is minor wear at the corners and edges, resulting in some emulsion loss in the margin edge. There is a very tiny linear crease in the lower right quadrant. There are a few small areas of faint discoloration in the lower left and upper right quadrants. In raking light the following are visible: a couple of minor, very small handling creases and raised pinpoint 'bumps' in the lower portion; and age-appropriate silvering in the dark areas. On the reverse, light soiling is visible, not affecting the image, and there is an abraded area across the top edge, likely from a prior hinging.
