Description

  • Manuel Álvarez Bravo
  • 'la mamá del bolero y el bolero' (mother of the shoeshine boy and the shoeshine boy)
mounted, signed and annotated 'Mexico' by the photographer in pencil on the mount, matted, framed, 1950s (Cien Años, Cien Días, pl. 70; Kismaric, p. 190, reversed)

Condition

This print, on single-weight paper with a semi-glossy surface and mounted to a cream-colored mount with a slick surface on both sides, is in generally very good to excellent condition. The print has warm tonality in the lower portion. The lower right corner tip has lifted slightly from the mount. When examined in raking light, there are several tiny handling creases visible that do not break the emulsion and likely occurred prior to mounting. There are two tiny indentations that do not break the emulsion in the upper right. The mount is lightly soiled. '26' and '(127) 303' are written on the reverse of the mount in unidentified hands in pencil.
