Description

  • Ansel Adams
  • 'redwoods, bull creek flat, northern california'
mounted, signed by the photographer in pencil on the mount, his Carmel studio stamp (BMFA 11), titled and dated in an unidentified hand in ink, on the reverse, matted, circa 1960, printed in the 1970s (400 Photographs, p. 399; Portfolios, p. 70; Morgan & Morgan, pl. 96; Trees, p. 47; Our National Parks, p. 55; Classic Images, pl. 72)

Condition

This photograph is in generally excellent condition. The mount has very faint foxing around the periphery of the print. There is a long strip of linen tape affixed to the top edge on the front of the mount. Karen Haas's and Rebecca Senf's book, 'Ansel Adams in the Lane Collection,' publishes the most comprehensive list to date of the studio stamps and labels Adams used throughout his career. Our dating of this print is based upon the authors' assessment of the use dates of stamp 11 on the reverse of this print: 1973 through 1977.
