Description
- Josef Sudek
- Still life with gooseberry, 1962
Vintage silver print, signed and dated in the margin at lower right. The reverse inscribed in pencil in Czech by the photographer. Framed.
Condition
The original print is warmer in tone than suggested by the catalogue illustration. The highlights are more creamy and the shadows have a slight warm brown tint. The background has slightly more detail than shown, and the original print has more depth overall.
The print is taped to its mount at the upper corners. Examination of the print surface shows there to be one flattened crease, approx. 5cm in length, running vertically down from the upper image edge at the right corner. There are a couple of very light, crescent-shaped stress marks in the lower left quadrant, and a few smaller pressure marks in the left and right margins. All these are visible only in raking light.
Overall a print in very good condition.
