Description

  • Robert Frank
  • Children playing on London Street, c. 1950
Silver print, signed on the reverse in ink and bearing various stamps including a Robert Frank Archive stamp, and a signed and dated copyright stamp. Printed 1979.

Condition

The corners are all worn, notably the lower corner which is broken over a length of some 3cms. The reverse of the print shows evidence of once having been firmly affixed to some support; the paper has been torn in removing it. In addition, under a raking light two longitudinal marks (probably caused when the print was dried) are apparent, one running from the lower right corner to emerge at the upper margin in the area of the second window from the right, the second running from close to the left-most child, to emerge in the left margin by the left-most window. These marks not apparent under normal scrutiny.
