Description

  • Captain Alfred Buckham
  • 'St. Andrews and the famous golf links', c. 1925
Silver print, mounted on board. Signed in pencil below the image, and titled below the image, also in pencil, probably in another hand.

Literature

Ferguson, Celia, A vision of flight, the aerial photographs of Alfred G. Buckham, Tempus publishing, Stroud, Glos., 2007, p.107.

Condition

The print shows careful signs of retouching, notably in the removing of a military roundel from the aircraft, and in the delicate highlighting in white wax crayon of the line of waves breaking toward the camera at centre left. The surface has been very lightly rubbed in several places, and the board is a little tired. Overall condition nonetheless very good.
