Description

  • Andy Goldsworthy
  • Rowan leaves laid around a hole, Yorkshire Sculpture Park, 25 October 1987
C-type, mounted on card. Framed. Together with a variant cropping of the image, mounted on card with printed title, photographer's credit and date. Framed separately.

Condition

Two well presented C-types, properly mounted to card supports. In each case, the prints are in good condition as to surface, free from abrasions, and as to colour, wholly free from any discoloratiion or fading. The mounts, however, show a considerable amount of foxing, which indicates that at some stage the cards have held excessive humidity. Attentive detailed scrutiny of the prints reveals very small (1mm or less) areas of mould growth upon their surfaces, which conclusively bears out the presence of humidity. The very slight wave to the boards is another indication. We therefore recommend that these prints should be removed from their frames, professionally cleaned, and allowed thoroughly to dry before reframing. This will ensure the long survival of these lovely prints which although not yet deteriorated are at some risk of deterioration if not properly treated in the reasonably near future.
