Catalogue Note
Mark Markarian studied photography at the Munich Photo Academy under the personal supervision of Willy Zielke (1902-1989) and remained proud of that connection all his life. Markarian is considered a major practitioner of the bromoil process, notably for his use of the triple bromoil transfer technique. This and the following two lots were first exhibited by Markarian himself in Munich in 1932. More recently they have been shown by the photographer's descendants at the International Bromoil Society seminar in Virginia, USA.
