Description

  • Captain Robert Gordon
  • 'South entrance, Yarmouth Church', c. 1862
Albumen print with an arched top, mounted on original board. The board bears a printed photographer's credit and a pencilled title in an unknown hand.

Condition

An albumen print with good strong colour through the greater portion of the image, with only light fading in the areas near the left margin and upper left corner. Two black dots on the image in the lower right corner, no bigger than a pencil point. A white dot on the print in the "ivy wall", same size. Slight silvering is visible in the heavily toned areas of the print. The overall surface of the print itself is excellent, although the mount would benefit from professional cleaning.
