Description

  • Eugène Druet
  • Jeunesse triomphante, c. 1898
Vintage silver print. Signed in the negative by the photographer and Auguste Rodin.

Literature

Pinet, H. 2007 p. 79 & 104 cat. 102.

Condition

A silver print whose surface is in remarkable order, showing only light scuffs and small stress marks; the silvering, consistent with the age of the image, is medium-heavy overall. A patch of long dried water damage is visible at the lower right edge, in the area of the photographer's signature; and a c. 1cm square area close to the right margin at the mid-height shows surface abrasion. A similar area in the upper right corner interferes much less with viewing pleasure. Overall a super example of a Druet Rodin, with only minor marks of the passage of time.
