Catalogue Note
Gabriel Ferrier découvre l'Algérie en 1883. On connait de lui des vues de Biskra et plusieurs tableaux de sujet orientaliste.
Il s'agit d'une étude pour Les fumeurs de kiff. L'un des tableaux les plus célèbres de Gabriel Ferrier, Les fumeurs de kiff fut exposé au Salon de Paris en 1887, n°908; un texte de Baudelaire, extrait des Paradis artificiels décrit le tableau dans le catalogue du Salon. Il est conservé au musée de Constantine en Algérie.
