"The following condition report has been provided by Henry Gentle, an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's. The canvas is lined and the paint surface is unstable with a pitted appearance caused by a mass of tiny pin-prick losses across the surface. Visible discoloured retouchings to the sky , to disguise earlier losses, and under U-V light more minor losses can be seen in the mid and fore grounds. There are large areas of good paint , however, with the impasto well preserved. The varnish is moderately discoloured. Offered in a moulded gilt wood frame , some chips."
