Anonymous sale, Paris, Christie's, 24 June 2004, lot 27, for E30,500, where acquired by the present owner.

Condition

"The following condition report has been provided by Henry Gentle, an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's. The oak panel has a visible horizontal crack which is unstable. There is a scattering of retouchings in the background. The paint within the still life and the ledge has been significantly compromised and under U-V light a substantial amount of restoration can be seen in this area. The thin scumbles and glazes have been worst affected. 19/20thC gilt frame-good condition."
"This lot is offered for sale subject to Sotheby's Conditions of Business, which are available on request and printed in Sotheby's sale catalogues. The independent reports contained in this document are provided for prospective bidders' information only and without warranty by Sotheby's or the Seller."

Catalogue Note

The attribution to Hulsdonck was first proposed by Fred G. Meijer on the basis of photographs at the time of the 2004 sale (see Provenance).
