"The following condition report has been provided by Henry Gentle, an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's. The copper panel is in a good condition and the paint surface is stable. Under U-V light a scattering of minute retouchings can be seen across the surface especially in the sky. There is no obvious damage and ,in my opinion, the retouchings reduce a natural sketchiness to the composition in this area. The varnish is slightly discoloured and an appreciable improvement would be achieved by its removal. Overall the painting is in good condition. Dark wood frame-good condition."
