Condition
"The following condition report has been provided by Henry Gentle, an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's.
The oak panel is lightly bowed and there is one stable restored horizontal split. The paint surface is secure. The paint layer in the sky and the water has thinned allowing the ochre ground to show through and dominate; this has led to substantial augmentation in these areas. Barring minor restored losses the foreground and figures are in good condition. The varnish is slightly discoloured.
Offered in a gilt wood and painted frame, some chips."
