"The following condition report has been provided by Henry Gentle, an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's. The pine wood panel is in good condition with only minor splits along the edge. The paint layer is in good condition. Under U-V light a scattering of retouchings can be seen , particularly in the sky, covering minor losses and blemishes, in some instances they are excessive. The removal of the slightly discoloured varnish would improve the tonality. Overall in a good condition with crisp paint and well preserved impasto."
