Canvas appears to be unlined. As seen in the catalogue illustration, at lower right a test-clean is visible in the white drapery. As the cleaning test shows, the painting is under a dirty yellow varnish. Ultraviolet reveals retouching and reinforcements, but these have been applied well. (Some of this reinforcement is visible to the naked eye, such as in the outline of the shadow around the base of the tassel.) Overall the painting presents a lovely image with nice retention of paint surface. In a carved and giltwood frame.
