Condition
Relined. painting is clean. there is excellent retention of the paint surface with lovely detail throughout. there is some irregularity in the varnish in the background at upper center (as can be seen in catalogue photograph). this appears to be a superficial and minor problem. under ultraviolet light: uv light reveals two areas of retouching over what appear to have been small punctures (one in center of fur mantle and the other on one of the gold eagles); otherwise just a few small retouches here and there on costume and some small ones in background at center left edge.
In an ornately carved and gilt wood frame.
