Condition
The catalogue illustration is a little brighter than the painting. The canvas has been relined and is offered in a carved gilt and painted black frame with some losses. The paint surface is dirty but secure and retains its vibrancy; under the yellow varnish much of the detail remains. Inspection under ultraviolet light shows scattered retouchings and strengthenings flouresce, and reveals the inscription "IOANNES.../DE' ISIS"; presumably this is the sitter's name.
