The catalogue illustration is quite representative of the painting, which is maybe a little more intense in tones. The canvas has been relined and it is mounted in a XIX Century wood and gilt frame. To the naked eye the painting appears in good condition and it keeps its rich impasto, particularly on the figures, on the boats and on the architectures. Two vertical areas of retouching are visible in the sky, to the right hand side above the chimney pots and in front of the sail to the left hand side, both visible from the catalogue illustration as well. Inspection under ultra-violet light confirms the aforementioned restoration and reveals only some other minor in the sky, another on the sail and some strengthenings on the roof of the church. The painting will benefit from a cleaning.
