The catalogue illustration is fairly representative of the painting, which is only slightly more intense in tones in the sky and less in the dark areas in the foreground. The canvas has been relined and it is mounted in a wood gold and red painted XIX Century frame with some minor losses. To the naked eye the painting appears to be in good state with only a slight scratch in the sky next to the clouds to the right hand side and two tiny losses in the left lower corner, all visible from the catalogue illustration as well. The thick varnish layer impedes clear inspection under ultra-violet light but some scattered restoration can be assumed especially in the sky.
