Condition
The catalogue illustrations are representative of the paintings.
The canvasses have been relined and are mounted in wood guilt XVIII Century style frames with some chips throughout.
To the naked eye no major damages can be seen on the painting with the parrot except for micro losses of paint scattered throughout, especially on the dark band along the lower margin and on the tulip in the centre. The same micro losses can be seen also on the second painting, located especially along the lower margin and on some of the flowers.
The thick varnish impedes a clear inspection under ultra-violet light, but some minor restoration can be seen particularly in the skies and on the lower margin of the second painting. This restoration does not affect the still life and the animals, except for a slight vertical line interfering with the chicken head.
