Description
- Jacob de Wit
- a trompe l'oeil of putti surrounding a portrait medallion, probably of Willem V of Orange
- oil on canvas, en grisaille, shaped top
Condition
Tha canvas has a modern and stable relining. The paint surface is generally secure, if a little abraded in areas, and under a discoloured varnish. There are several areas of retouchings which have discloured over time. There are three small areas of restoration which appear to have been small tears. There are retouchings along the edges, probably due to frame abrasion. Inspection under UV light reveals further retouchings and strengthenings. Offered in a modern wood frame with some paint losses.
