Description

  • An allegory of earth; An allegory of fire
  • a pair, both oil on panel

Condition

Both panels are flat and stable. The first is cradled horizontally and vertically and the second is stabilised by battens around all four edges and a vertical batten down the centre. The paint surfaces of both works are generally sound, and the former has a 3 cm diameter restored and retouched area of paint loss upper right to the tree. There are retouchings scattered throughout to both paintings, notably to the sky, and these fluoresce clearly under UV light. Both are offered in matching carved wooden framed.
