"The following condition report has been provided by Henry Gentle, an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's. The original canvas is lined. The canvas bulges along the bottom edge and there is some instability of the paint and some loss, particularly to the lower right corner. There are regular restorations along the top edge, denoting a re-used tacking edge, and loss to the right corner. Apart from this and slight abrasion to the finer scumbles and glazes of the figures the painting is well preserved and the texture and impasto through the trees is untouched. A tonal improvement would be achieved with the removal of the varnish. Offered in a gilt wood frame in good condition."
