Condition

The catalogue illustration is a little too contrasted so that, for example, the white flowers in the centre are not depicted in their full detail. Furthermore, the colours are a little cooler in the original. The canvas is unlined and stable. There is some strengthening to the background, notably at the right hand margin and some localised scattered retouchings to some of the flowers, such as the blue of the little morning glory just right of centre. There is some further strengthening to the the foliage on the right. The paint surface is however generally very well preserved as a result of having never been lined. There is a thin layer of dirt and slightly dirty varnish. Offered in a plain 19th century gilt frame, in good condition. AF*
