"The following condition report has been provided by Henry Gentle, an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's. The original canvas is lined and the paint layer is secure and flat. Small paint losses are visible and are un-restored. Abraded background paint in the sky, the shadows of the clouds and behind the seated angel is evident and there is slight discoloration where the ground colour has become dominant. The varnish has discoloured. The painting is generally in a well preserved condition. Offered in a plain moulded gilt wood frame which is distressed."
