"The following condition report has been provided by Henry Gentle, an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's. The original canvas is lined and the paint layer is stable but raised. All the canvas edges have been restored and there is a small restored tear to Christ's forehead. Across the surface of the painting can be seen a myriad of microscopic losses following the canvas texture beneath. Some of these, particularly in the faces of the figures, have been reduced, but most have been left. The restoration is imprecise and discoloured. Much of the detail, especially to the flowers, is in good condition and many areas of texture and impasto are intact and well preserved. The colours are strong and saturate well. Offered in an ornate gilt wood frame in good condition."
