Condition

"The following condition report has been provided by Henry Gentle, an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's. The original canvas is lined and the paint is stable but raised in places. There is a repaired scratch to the paint in the sky and pin prick losses of paint across the surface, some of which have been retouched out, and some abraded glazes to the shadows in the sea. The overall condition is good, many of the finer details are preserved, including those to the boats, and removing the varnish would enhance the tonality of the image. Offered in a plain wood frame with a gold sight edge."
"This lot is offered for sale subject to Sotheby's Conditions of Business, which are available on request and printed in Sotheby's sale catalogues. The independent reports contained in this document are provided for prospective bidders' information only and without warranty by Sotheby's or the Seller."
