"The following condition report has been provided by Henry Gentle, an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's. The original canvas has been lined and the paint surface is raised and unstable with recent paint losses. The sky to the upper left and lower right has been over painted, this appears an extreme measure but the true paint loss is not possible to quantify; other restored minor losses can be detected across the surface, including an old stretcher mark to the upper right. Generally, in a well preserved original condition. The varnish has yellowed considerably and removing it would improve the tonality. Offered in a gilded and painted frame with some chips."
