"The following condition report has been provided by Henry Gentle, an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's. The canvas is unlined. There are two patched and restored damages, one to the background, mid-right, and one to the sitter's robe, left. Some areas to the back ground and the blue cloak have seen slight abrasion and are augmented, this can be detected under ultraviolet light along with a further scattering of minor restorations across the surface and the remains of an older varnish, removal of this would enhance the tonality. In a good overall condition with preserved texture and impasto. Offered in a carved gilt wood frame in good condition."
