Anonymous sale, London, Christie's, 10 July 1959, lot 9, for 28 Gns., to "Parker".

"The following condition report has been provided by Henry Gentle, an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's. The oak panel is flat and well preserved, with no cracks or deformations. The paint layer is stable but there can be seen past de-lamination to Christ's cloak and to the Samarian's dress. The dark cloud to the top has been slightly abraded. Beneath the degraded and discoloured varnish the paint is well preserved . Offered in a gilt wood frame in good condition."
