Condition

"The following condition report has been provided by Henry Gentle, an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's. The copper panels have been tacked through the paint surface on to oak cradles, there is consequential paint loss around the tack heads. The panels are in good condition although slightly bowed. There are small visible pin prick losses across the surfaces, some restored and discoloured, and one or two recent damages with paint loss. Both panels are in good original and well preserved condition. The removal of the discoloured varnishes would improve tonality. Offered in large gilt wood frames damaged and repainted."
"This lot is offered for sale subject to Sotheby's Conditions of Business, which are available on request and printed in Sotheby's sale catalogues. The independent reports contained in this document are provided for prospective bidders' information only and without warranty by Sotheby's or the Seller."

Catalogue Note

This lot is sold with two certificates of Dr. Jean Pierre de Bruyn, endorsing the attribution to Quellinus.
