"The following condition report has been provided by Henry Gentle, an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's. The canvas is lined and the paint surface is raised and unstable with visible restored losses to the foliage, upper right and left and lower right and left. The blue to the sky, either side of the central cloud, is significantly restored. There is a scattering of further minor losses across the surface. There are areas, however , particularly in the foreground , where the paint is in a good untouched condition, the texture and impasto well preserved. The varnish is discoloured and the image would improve with its removal. Offered in a carved gilt wood frame, with some losses."
