"The following condition report has been provided by Henry Gentle, an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's. The unlined canvas is on its original stretcher and there is a loss of tension and raised stretcher marks as a consequence. The paint layer is raised and unstable with some tiny pin-prick size losses detectable across the surface, some of these have been restored. Overall, the painting is in a good untouched, original condition with well preserved paint texture. The tonality would improve with the removal of the varnish. Offered in a plain moulded gilt wood frame, with some losses."
