"The following condition report has been provided by Henry Gentle, an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's. The oak panel is in a good flat condition with some minor evidence of previous worm damage; there is a small restored loss to the left hand corner. The paint layer, in particular to the sky, is slightly raised along the horizontal wood grain with some minor restored paint losses to these ridges. There is additional heavy augmentation to some areas in the sky and this appears unnecessary and excessive. The foreground is in a good untouched condition with the paint well preserved and fine details intact. Offered in a carved gilt wood frame, in good condition."
