Description
- Lucas van Uden
- an extensive landscape with a waterfall
- signed with monogram lower right: L. V. V.
- oil on panel
Provenance
Jhr. Mr. Van der Does de Willebois, Teniersstraat 8, Amsterdam (according to an old label on the reverse).
Condition
"The following condition report has been provided by Henry Gentle, an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's.
The panel is sound, although slightly bowed, with a flat and stable paint layer. Under U-V light can be seen minor retouchings to areas where slight abrasion has occurred e.g. in the sky and the more thinly painted areas where the more delicate paint layers have been compromised. Overall, the painting is in good condition with the delicate paint textures well preserved along with the glazes. The colours are fresh and saturate well. A slight tonal improvement would be achieved were the varnish removal.
Offered in a black wood and gilt frame, with minor losses."
