Condition

The catalogue illustration is representative for the actual painting. The single panel has been cradled. A very thin retouched split is running through the centre from the left to the right edge. Very tiny paint losses can be observed along the outer edges, in particular in the lower right corner. Small retouched paint losses are visible in the sky centre right, in the stream lower right, and along the left and upper edges, possibly due to an old frame. Otherwise, the paint surface seems to be in good condition. Tiny retouchings can be observed in the sky, in the foliage, in the horses, and in the figures in the carriage. The paint surface is covered with a dirty layer of varnish. Inspection under Ultra-Violet light is partially impeded by the dirty varnish layer, but does confirm the aforementioned retouchings, and reveals an additional spot of retouching in the house centre left. This lot is offered unframed. (MW)
