Condition
The actual painting is darker and deeper in tone than the catalogue illustration suggests.
The single panel is flat and stable, and bevelled on all sides. There are two tiny flecks of paint loss along the lower edge, but otherwise, no damages are apparent. The paint is a little thin in the blue and green tones in the background and centre right. Small retouchings can be observed along the upper edge, in the dog and figure on the right, in the foliage centre left, and minor strengthening is visible in the dead birds and game. The paint surface is under a dirty layer of varnish. Inspection under Ultra-Violet light is inconclusive due to the varnish.
Offered in a plain wood frame with gilt fillets, with a few losses. (MW)
