Condition

The actual paintings are slightly less red and softer in tone than the catalogue illustrations suggest. Both copper plates are flat and stable. In both paintings, the paint layer has grown slightly thin in the greenish tones. In both paintings, minor retouchings can be observed in the sky, in the mountains, and in the rocks in the foreground. This is confirmed by inspection under Ultra-Violet light. Otherwise, in both paintings, the paint surface seems to be in good condition, and is covered with a slightly discoloured layer of varnish. Offered in later plain gilt wood frames, with a few chips.
