Description

  • Frederik de Moucheron
  • An Italianate wooded landscape with peasants resting on a path, a view of a ruin on a hilltop beyond
  • bears signature lower right
  • oil on panel

Condition

The single panel is flat and stable, and very lightly bevelled on all sides. Two very thin vertical splits, each of approx. 10 cm., are visible running in the centre from the lower edge. Otherwise, no damages seem to be apparent. Small scattered retouchings are visible throughout, e.g. in the rocks lower left, in the sky, in the reclining figures, and in the background centre right. The paint surface is covered with a very dirty layer of varnish. Inspection under Ultra-Violet light is completely impeded by the dirty varnish layer. Offered in a gilt wood cassetta frame with scroll and leaf decorations in the corners, in good condition. (MW)
