The actual painting is alot darker and less yellow in tone than the catalogue illustration suggests. The panel consists of 2 planks, joined horizontally, and is bevelled on the lower and upper sides. Both the join and the left and right edges have been reinforced with large strips of wood. The join has been retouched. The paint layer has grown thin in places, particularly in the background, and in the figures most left and most right. Strengthening is visible throughout, e.g. in the figures in the background to the right, in the figures seated around the table, in the dog on the right, and in the pots and pans in the foreground, The paint surface is covered with a very thick and dirty layer of varnish. Inspection under Ultra-Violet is completely impeded by the dirty varnish layer. Offered in a plan wood frame, with a tiny hole along the upper edge, but otherwise, in good condition. (MW)
