Catalogue Note

Although this drawing is not directly conneceted with any of Della Bella's prints, very similar figures of windswept riders appear in the twenty-fourth print from the series of the Diversi Capricci published by Nicolas Langlois in Paris before 1647 (M.-de V. 151), and also in another of the artist's highly atmospheric landscapes (M.-de V. 821).1
