Catalogue Note

This drawing is characteristic of Creti's style and figure type.  It does not seem to be directly related to a painting, although similar figures appear, for example, in several of his allegorical tomb paintings commissioned by Owen McSwiny.  It is possible that the drawing was intended as an independent work for collectors.
