Condition

"The following condition report has been provided by Henry Gentle, an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's. The canvas is lined and the paint layer is raised but in a stable condition. There are some small restored losses to the centre at the top, lower left corner and horizontally along an old stretcher mark. The paint surface behind the small tureen, the face of the clock and the cloth under the urn of flowers has been abraded and appears thin. In contrast, the silver tureen, the green cloth, flowers and fruit are in a good condition with the impasto and texture preserved and fresh. The varnish has discoloured and it would be worthwhile removing it to enhance the overall tonality."
"This lot is offered for sale subject to Sotheby's Conditions of Business, which are available on request and printed in Sotheby's sale catalogues. The independent reports contained in this document are provided for prospective bidders' information only and without warranty by Sotheby's or the Seller."
