Catalogue Note

We are grateful to Fred Meijer for suggesting that the present work was most probably carried out by a Dutchman in Paris, working in the style of Kalf, van Boucle and Bourdon. Mr Meijer goes on to suggest that a plausible candidate is Pieter van den Bosch (1604-after 1649), an artist from Leiden who may have moved to Paris.
