Thence by descent to the Earl of Iddesleigh;

Condition

STRUCTURE The canvas has been lined. PAINT SURFACE The painting appears to be in good condition. There is some minor frame abrasion to the edges of the canvas, as well as some minor retouching to the upper left of the picture. There is some minor very abrasion to the sitters costume. ULTRAVIOLET Examination under ultraviolet light reveals a slightly discoloured and opaque varnish overall, but no signs of further recent retouching. FRAME Held in a gilded wooden frame.
